Carnevale ~

also known as Carnival or Mardi Gras, is celebrated in Italy, Spain & many other places around the world 40 days before Easter, a final party before Ash Wednesday and the restrictions of Lent. The 2009 date for carnevale is February 24 but celebrations in Venice and many parts of Italy, Europe, and South America will run from February 14

(or even earlier) through February 24, 2009. One of the largest Mardi Gras celebrations is held in New Orleans, Louisiana, ending on Fat Tuesday, Pancake Day , or Shrove Tuesday, when the tradition is that everyone gorges on pancakes, and doughnuts the day before Ash Wednesday, or the start of Lent (about 6 weeks of fasting, penitence, and self-denial in preparation for Easter). So....................

donkey games

We went south for the week hoping we could catch some sun, and it would cheer us up!

It was fun seeing Joe, Em & Tess but Enterprise was cold!
Joey & Emilie took us for a Valentine's steak dinner in Pine Valley. Cute little town nestled in the mountains, and dinner was delicious. Thanks you guys!
Vegas was warmer (58 degrees) but not warm enough. We caught up on on the movies we have been wanting to see. And ate & ate & ate! That new bike of mine is going to start getting a workout!! Good to get away, but good to come home.
On our way home we stopped at Joey's for a night of fun! The school he teaches at

did a fundraiser Donkey Basketball Games. The Faculty played against the students, and they beat them. Then, they played against some of the local Farmers, and got whooped!

Guess those farmers had an advantage, somehow!! I haven't laughed this hard in a long time.
One of the little donkeys did not like being sat upon, and keep bucking off everyone, and running away. I was hoping Joey would get that one, but no, he got one that just followed the cute little spotted one around. Didn't seem to want to get into the game much!

One of the guys at our office is a volunteer at ACS, and every year we really get into ordering tons of these cheery flowers! It always makes me so excited for SPRING! They are like Sunshine to my Soul !!!!
